About Me

Hi there, I'm Dana. I'm a psychology major in my first year of college, and I'm taking this course to fulfill a requirement for my baccalaureate core. I'm thrilled to be a part of this program and am eager to learn more about communicating online. I'm a Mexican located on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. I love traveling, spending time with my pets, and I especially enjoy going to the beach.

I recently made a friend, but the problem is that I live in Mexico while my friend lives in the United States. Despite this, we have been able to communicate through Whatsapp and other apps. Our friendship has become closer than any of my in-person friendships, and I believe this is because it's easier to start up a conversation online and we can express our emotions without fear of being judged. On social media sites, anyone with an internet connection can influence public opinion. People are frequently exposed to material by social media algorithms that confirms what they already believe. This has the ability to divide opinions in society and make it difficult for people to engage in constructive debate across different opinions. However, viral information and memes have the potential to change people's opinions about political and social matters. False information on social media has the potential to destroy people's trust in legitimate organizations. Social media manipulation of public opinion is dangerous for democracy since it might affect the results of elections. Social media may help and hurt connections between people. Oversharing Online

I believe that different social networks have different advantages and disadvantages. For instance, Instagram is used to share photos and videos with your followers, while LinkedIn is used to connect with people in the business world. As we can see, these two platforms serve different purposes and, as a result, offer different benefits—one helps us find jobs, while the other lets us share our photos and videos with friends and the world. While there are plenty of benefits to this, there are also many disadvantages, such as the possibility that we may become addicted to the social network, which could be detrimental to our physical and emotional well-being.
